When I put this hat on during Friday clean up, our classroom knows it’s time for a nature hike.
Most of the we just walk, and collect, and archive - singing along the way.
Other times, we have a fun, student-led STEM lesson that connects to our walking journey.
One this day, we navigated nature’s physical changes & chemical changes. I love incorporating etymology into cross-curricular lessons. Various roots translate differently. The latin root CHEM relates to “phenomena” which makes me think of magic. PHYSIC relates to “nature” and “form.”
As scientists & knowledge seekers, we embody a kind of magic as we learn. Let’s call it alchemy. When we were little, we were all alchemists. Keep expanding. Keep exploring.
